Piano Magic kick off their CD with a blast of frenetic
drum 'n' noise, but soon settle down to crafting a delightfully
measured album of ethereal electronic pop and atmospheric soundscapes.
which they describe as "Small Beat, pre-chip....radiophonics." Their
sound incorporates spoken word, low key machine stress and pellucid
acoustic interludes in a seamless whole. Their effortless integration
of disparate elements goes about it's business with an unprepossessing
quietude which belies the intricacies of it's construction. Few
other releases occupy this fertile middle ground between ambience
and experimentation, between pop and abstraction, and none I know
of succeeds with such effortless finesse. Highly recommended.
